[Wednesday, September 27, 2006]  [please read disclaimer at the bottom=)..] DIPLOMACY: -definition of diplomacy: a way in which countries conduct relations -aim of diplomacy: to promote common interests and resolve conflicts peacefully. *if social studies is US and i'm Iraq, diplomacy would never resolve the conflicting issues we have with each other. therefore, my conclusion is that we would have to resort to military deterrence to prevent conflicts from arising from our differences. MILITARY DETERRENCE: -why military needed: diplomacy alone does not grant peace&security for many countries, especially small countries. Thus,armed forces are needed to deter any agressor. *Since diplomacy yields no results to the conflict between social studies and me, military deterrence is needed to avoid a direct confrontation between the two of us.
